Austin, really drawn to this pub. Saved it a few days ago and just getting around it.
A nice breath of fresh air with "how-to" coupled with your personal experience. I am absolutely stealing that memory; writing a word on one side with a more detailed account. It's interesting, isn't it? We sorta need to slow down to speed up. Good to see more of you around.
Thank you for the wonderful post! It's got me thinking of ways to apply some of the things you shared in my own life. The concept of setting my own pace is a good one, but hard when I was raised to be constantly productive. It's something I've been working on and your thoughts on the subject will have me thinking more...
Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad you liked it! Hopefully this can be an encouragement, I don’t want people to think this is just another way to “be better.” There’s not always a correlation between being better (skilled) and being happier.
Great post! I even felt myself slowing down as I read it. The part that spoke most to me was that we set the pace of our lives, that is so true, and I never realized it until now. I tend to rush through things, and this is just what I need.
What a wonderful post, I loved it. So many good ideas. I’m trying to adopt this thinking by for example, giving myself an hour to sit down with a cup of tea, maybe read, listen to a book or music, but it’s without guilt.
There was a generation of parents that enforced being busy, if you weren’t busy you were wasting time. It was a brutal way to live. My parents were in that mindset but I don’t fault them since it’s how they were taught. I guess I’m breaking away from it.
I love the idea of saving a memory for later. I'm definitely going to try it out for myself. My memory feels so fuzzy sometimes. Life goes by so fast—and it's only getting faster and faster. Each day blurs into the next, weeks and months fade together with time. I think that this is a great way to help combat that, to slow down and remember.
so i have a question on this 🫣 how do you slow down when your life is so full? when there’s so many obligations. work to be at. social things to participate in. how can i try to take time for myself and not feel guilty?
It’s a hard question for sure. I’m not sure there’s an answer, only better and worse ways to do it.
I think the first step is to ask yourself, “If you could have what you wanted and it was good for you, what would it be?” Specifically pace wise. Sure, we want to slow down, but have you specifically identified in what ways? Most people don’t, they just know they are going too fast.
I want to emphasize again, it’s mostly unrealistic to slow our whole life down, but are their pockets of time in your day you can slow down?
Once you identify what it would look like to slow down, or what you would like, slowly begin curating your life that direction. For me I have anchors, such as my morning, that are a gage for how I’m doing. If I start missing or skipping those anchors it’s a little reminder that I’m probably speeding up too much.
Hope this helps, great question. I might write on that next because it’s a multifaceted problem.
We are on the same journey to slow down. I call it my peace plan. Going to get a pocket notebook instead of putting everything into my phone, I love that idea. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback, I look forward to interacting in the future!
I think we have to slow down the areas that don’t matter as much and speed up the areas that do matter. Perhaps, still figuring that out
Loved it! I use similar ways to slow down, but never tried walking without phone before. Maybe I should.
Try it! It’s great
Beautifully written... thank you!
Thank you!
great reminders- thank you!
You’re welcome!

It’s certainly helped me be more conscious and reflective. Let me know how it works for you. It’s hard to remember sometimes that’s for sure

That’s so great to hear! I like that… a peace plan. It’s needed.
Let me know how you like the pocket notebook, I personally love mine, it’s amazing how much you can use it for instead of your phone.
