When facing an obstacle, begin by asking yourself what your perspective is. What are you focusing on? Remember, the power of perception is something that cannot be taken from you. It is only relinquished. Giving up this power is often the first wrong step when facing an obstacle.
The three decisions
Every minute, but especially in moments of stress, we are making three decisions that have the power to change everything.
What you choose to focus on
The meaning you give it
What you will do with that
If you want to change your life, begin by consciously taking control of these three decisions. Ask yourself: “What am I choosing to focus on right now?” “What does that mean?” “What else could it mean?” and “Now what will I do with that?”
Shift your focus to something beneficial, choose an empowering meaning, and resolve to take action.
He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom. -Gandalf
Exactly. It took me a long time to realize that focus is everything. Personally I find that focusing on only ONE thing is the key.
In moments of stress or overthinking, I'll want to focus on too many things (which results in distraction). So it's important to ask ourselves again and again: what truly matters to me? What is my priority? Let's do it one step at a time.
